Research reveals that there is a lack of cooperation between institutions in Maastricht. There is a need to develop a multi-stakeholder partnership for sustainable development which can be defined as institutionalized interactions between public and private actors with the aim to provide a collective good. To addresslocal challenges, the formation of broad interdisciplinary partnerships is needed. These partnerships should represent the triple helix of government, the private sector and higher education institutions and other civil society organizations and individuals.

This led Mondiaal Maastricht to develop the idea of an SDG platform, in which we invite local stakeholders of Maastricht to join a think-tank which assess and tackles SDG related issues. As partnerships allow organizations to pool their features, resources, and knowledge -which can result in successful synergies between organizations – multi-stakeholder partnerships can become the cornerstone for a successful SDGs implementation in Maastricht.
